In 2005, APA established a Committee on Early Career Psychologists (CECP) to represent the unique interests and concerns of psychologists in the first ten years of their careers. In 2016, a new APA Office on ECPs was created. CECP supports the needs of early career psychologists within and outside of APA through advocacy and by developing resources for personal and professional growth.
The Committee on Early Career Psychologists strives to build a profession that embraces continual change in pursuit of a more inclusive and humane world.
We promote the expertise of ECPs and foster leaders with the passion and innovation to advance psychological advocacy, education, practice and science.
Current Strategic Goals
A. Encourage ECPs to understand their civic responsibility to the field and society, including increasing engagement in leadership within APA and their communities.
B. Promote the financial wellness of ECPs.
C. Promote the career and educational development of ECPs.
